The Swedish Vallhund is an intelligent, spontaneous, and energetic breed. Used as an alarm dog, this breed is prone to barking and loves to do so. Also used for herding purposes, this breed can do well in many categories such as obedience, herding, working, and ratting.

The Swedish Vallhund has a very even temperament and great disposition. Generally good with children, given the children are properly trained themselves to handle this breed. Very affectionate, loving and playful, this breed makes a great family companion. Good around other pets but not recommended for a home with cats unless properly socialized at an early stage of life.

An intelligent little breed, the Swedish Vallhund does well in obedience training. Typically easy to housebreak and train, this breed would make a good herding companion. Can also be used for watch dogging if proper training takes place. Gentle hand is required for this breed.

Swedish Vallhund Breed Activity

Swedish Vallhunds do well in an apartment environment if given proper exercise. An active breed, they do not require a fenced yard however does enjoy roaming free. One long daily walk should be enough to keep this rambunctious fellow happy.
